Machine development - Industrial 3D printer

Studio Plastplan

2020

Plastplan has developed its own manufacturing equipment to enable local recycling and production. At a time when large-scale 3D printing from recycled plastic was still in its infancy, the studio designed and built industrial pellet-extrusion 3D printers from scratch, allowing locally discarded plastic to be transformed directly into functional items, furniture, architectural components and prototypes. Machine development has enabled continuous experimentation with recycled materials, production methods and circular manufacturing systems.
